It is hot here - the polar opposite to freezing New York - not looking forward to that return.
Make up wise, I can't wear much of it above 80 degrees. The only thing on my face (if anything) is a bright lipstick - everything else slides off! Glossy mags talk a lot about switching to tinted moisturizers - as if! The bloody thing would disappear within 30 minutes of me
I brought a few lipsticks with me but the ones I've been using the most are MAC Lady Danger (a matte orange shown above that looks even brighter as I get darker) and Make Up Forever #36 (a rich purple fuschia) - found it here and I think I love it more than Show Orchid (from this post). Huge thanks to the assistant at Sephora who recommended it!
If there is holy grail make up that works in blistering heat I wish I knew what it was. If not, bare face it is with a slap of lipstick!

The beauty eds who suggest tinted moisturizers, clearly have not spent enough time in the Caribbean.

When I'm in st. vincent I use the laura mercier oil free tinted moisturizer and top it off with the make up forever microfinish powder but only at nights...in the daytime I just try to use a sunscreen with a bit of a tint..it's much too hot for anything else.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness they are gonna be so jealous of your tan when you get home!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I'm in the caribbean, I get all bothered if I wear make up! It feels so uncomfortable, plus a tan makes it ok to skip makeup if you ask me.

I love how fresh and dewy your skin looks. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteIf I dressed every time you go to the Caribbean, I would interfere! Omitted to makeup, if you ask me really uncomfortable you feel with a tan.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching snow falling outside of my window and word heat sounds so appealing.
ReplyDeleteYou don't need make-up anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am in Jamaica I find that wearing tinted moisturizer is a joke. Between the heat and the relative/friends hugging/kissing me it is gone pretty fast.
ReplyDeleteWhen I really want to look put together (perhaps for evening dinners) I just moisturize and put on some loose powder on my t-zone... and pay more attention to my lip color.
I use NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer year round. I find that it does not come off in the heat, but I have extremely dry skin. It's a great product. Contains SPF 30, but does not look chalky/white/ashy on dark skin, which I very much appreciate. It's a bit spendy, but it works, so I don't really mind.
