From M for Christmas

Bloody ell!!!!!!!

Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty -  Michael noticed that I never got round to getting the book after he saw my post here so he grabbed a copy for me.  Sneaky sod.  Coming from a 'car guy' this is major brownie points.

iPad  -  Finally I can stop using my teeny iPhone screen for every damn thing when I'm out.  My blogging tool world just got updated.

My make up & skin care routine

This is my face in product form.  It's what I use every day.  What I can't live without. You get the jist....

Boxing Day post

Vintage top: posted before (here). Second hand skirt (just posted). Second hand coat: Zara - better shots of it (here). Shoes: Creepers by Underground Original. Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (found similar one here).

A quick iPhone shot of what I wore on Christmas Day.

I'm not one to wear sequins for 'special occasions' but it's good in a kitsch sort of way to chug wine and eat turkey with a bit of glam going on.

How was your Christmas? Awful? Great? or just 'eh'

Let me know and see you tomorrow.

ps. For more winter style inspo check out who I'm photographing on the WDUGT street style blog

jewelmint

Here's my last Christmas gift offer before the weekend starts.*

JewelMint asked me to pick some of my favourite items from their online shop - a new site part owned by Kate Bosworth.  The stackable rings and bangles caught my eye (#5 rings are my fave):

1.  From The Heart rings in oxidized silver, brass and copper. Wear stacked or as three separate rings.
2.  Maasai tribal 2" bangle.  Love that the primary colour is black
3.  Manta woven bangle.  Great for stacking with #2
4.  Silver Swan bracelet.  Pretty on the lower part of the wrist/upper part of the hand
5.  Yves Rings in oxidized brass and silver.  Wear stacked or as three separate rings.
6.  Polar Ends wide antiqued bangle

* JewelMint is giving WDUGT readers 50% off their first order. Shipping is free.  Code: WHERE50 (valid till December 31 for new members). Order here.  Happy shopping for yourself or for friends or family for post Christmas.

I know a lot of you are leaving (or have already left) for Christmas holiday so I'll get this in now:

Merry Christmas!

Nylon Magazine - The 60s style salute

Anyone seen the current Nylon? The shop guy gave me a blank stare when I wanted to buy it with a credit card.  Anyone else bad with carrying cash?

The pink brogue

Versace for H&M mens brogues (more pink shoe porn). Socks: H&M
Photo: Dapper Lou

Eye popping.  Jaw dropping.  Pink.

Worn a while ago, they are as bright in real life as they look here. I'll post the rest of the outfit another time.  These are begging for a skinny mod suit, rolled up boyfriend jeans or this big slouchy knit for equal pop.

More pink inspiration on the street blog.  Yep. Still loving that damn ombre hair...

Shop Love - Trash & Vaudeville

About bloody time I did this feature.

Thx Jimmy...

Gold + Grey

Up at the crack of dawn for a photo shoot on the west side highway...

Dr Martens

Almost one year ago today I wore my DM's in this original post  (here). I've worn em since obviously but then I'm browsing the web and find this behind the scenes video. Couldn't think of a better time to share that post from 1 year ago and this video.  I love seeing brands I grew up around brought to life (love the cig flip in the vid).

ps. Caroline Nordholt - I picked you for the Polyvore collage winner. Email me when you get a mo.

pps. Diana from the blog Dressed up Alligators -  you have a spending spree of $400 on Beso.com coming your way.

***

I'll post a more recent outfit later today.  See you then.

T G I F: 12.16.11

florals2

Florals.  Paisleys.  Dots.  Checks. You name it. The easiest way I've found to experiment with prints is with a collared shirt in any pattern you fancy.

You already know I love mixing prints and it's in over drive these past few weeks (floral trousers found at H&M yesterday - stand back in amazement).

Here's some print shirts I found online but you can find similar ones almost anywhere:

1. Topshop check shirt
2. Equipment anchor print shirt
3. See by Chlo floral print shirt
4. Suno rose print shirt
5. Miss Selfridge floral print contrast shirt

Picture in the mixed print shirt and blazer taken from this post.

ps.  If you have any questions about wearing prints let me know in the comments and I'll answer.

TGIF and have a good one :-)

The last boho inspired outfit for 2011...

Tis the season...

Gold + Grey 3

You can tell Christmas is close because I've got another giveaway.

This time it's to win this Swatch watch from the New Gent 2011 Xmas Collection via Polyvore.  I've personally been wearing any old gold oversized watch a lot with knits so here's a sports inspired one for you.

HOW TO WIN:

Create an outfit collage on Polyvore here including the watch and post a link to your collage in the below comments. Find the watch in gold or silver here. I will pick a winner after I've checked out the looks you created.

Competition ends this Saturday December 17th (midnight EST).

On a side note, my above collage is based on my ideal day or evening look which I'm definitely replicating in a couple of days.  Red lipstick and winged liner included.

My scruffy camel coat

It was sort of love at first sight really....Add some ankle leos and your out the door.

To be continued

I'll post the rest of this when I get up.  Right now I'm knackered.

See you in a few hours with the rest and a little giveaway : -)

What to wear

Love this vid made and just published by the lovely Caroline.

Reminds me of days when I have no bloody idea WHAT to wear and I end up trying on different things with a pile of clothes building up on the bed.

Of course the change into the big white knit over the mini is my personal favourite look I think.  What's yours?

Knits + slippers

Comfort dressing is a chunky jumper and outdoor slippers : -)

T G I F: 12.9.11

jumpers12.8.11

Some knits I wouldn't mind wearing now and into next year.

None of that wear-for-one-month-only rudolf/snowman motif crap that come out every December.

Skip the usual denim and wear any with a floaty maxi skirt and boots or a slim cut skirt and heels: the latter being a bit more sex kitten.  Especially for a casual office party.

1. Topshop sequin knit
2. Miss Selfridge neon cable knit
3. Topshop lurex cable knit
4. Topshop spotted knit
5. Miss Selfridge geometric knit
6. DKNY cashmere blend knit
7. Jason Wu varsity knit
8. Miss Selfridge star knit

Shop Love - Shareen Vintage (part 2)

I made a stop in there again recently and saw this re-worked wedding dress hanging behind their desk. I had to try it on for laughs.

Mens styling

furcollarcoat

Ever since I stopped Ashley last week for the street style blog I've been thinking how easy she made wearing an oversized fur collar coat look.  She made getting menswear inspired simple. Note how the trousers stop just above the boots to show off the laces.

1. Topshop best of British coat or try this coat one size up.
2. Marni straight leg trousers
3. Aiden lace up brogue boots
4. Topshop shirt
5. JCrew bag (same as mine)
6. Topshop leather satchel

Check my street style blog for more style inspo.

For Jimi

I couldn't be inspired by a greater guy from his time...

Agyness Deyn + Elle UK

I love me a bit of Agyness Deyn.  Here's Elle UK's behind the scenes vid for shooting her for the cover of their October issue.

She's a fellow lover of second hand and vintage clothes and creepers.  LOVE the white ones in this shoot. I have these ones. I remember stopping her once during NYFW to ask her about an oversized military coat that she was wearing.

The coat was vintage. Of course.

Michael Kors Pre Fall 2012

A small peak into what's coming beyond next summer.

T G I F: 12.2.11

gifts11.2.11

MY TWELVE PICKS FOR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS (*so far)

The question I ALWAYS ask myself when shopping for others:  Do I like it enough to want it? Chances are if I love it, then they will too.

1.  Diptyque scented candle:  Still the best I've come across. (I have this scent too).
2. Maison Martin Margeila watch strap ring: Make use of the sale + Net A Porter's free luxe gift wrapping.
3. Topshop star purse: To carry the little things.
4. ASOS hysteric glitter plaftorms:  Unexpected colour punch + perfect with dark socks + on sale.
5. ASOS mock crock laptop case: Doubles as a clutch & less boring than black.
6. Pantone iPhone case cover:  I'm considering one for myself too.
7. Topshop ballet slippers: Wear with anything. These never go out.  Ever.
8. Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty:  This book was sold out at the Metropolitan Museum during the record breaking exhibition this year.  Now it's back at a fraction of the price. (I'm ordering a copy). Also found here.
9.  Made Her Think Siren ring: I'd wanted this when I saw it at their studio. Looks like a striking vintage find.
10. Michael Kors chronograph watch: A classic shape (also on sale + free posh gift wrapping).
11. Topshop leather gloves: Looks vintage from day 1.
12. Jennifer Zeuner open star necklace: Perfect for layering (and at a clearance price). I wear this one daily. Seen before here.

*I wanted to announce that you can now follow my LIVE shopping updates on Currently Obsessed.  It's a private invite ONLY website but the first 200 readers to use the password Where_Did_U_Get_ThatObsessed gets in.
