copper

The other day I was at a local restaurant/bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn.
While there I took a quick iPhone shot of my new vintage purse from Gypsy Nation Vintage. I wear it on the shoulder or across the body messenger style. The gold mirror shades are Ray Ban.

magenta

Dress: Forever 21. Boots: Guiseppe Zanotti (last size left ONLINE!! Also LOVE the plain pony skin versions). Bag: Rebecca Minkoff. Shades: Street vendor @ Astor Place.
I found this puff sleeved one the other day in between looking for people for WDUGT street style pictures. Wore it this weekend with the elvis boots (worn before in winter) and this teeny snake skin magenta bag. I want a matte lipstick this exact same colour - recs?

Where did u get that - man repeller shoes

Photography: Karen Blanchard
So there I am, camera in hand, walking around Soho and who do I literally bump into? Leandra aka The Man Repeller. No introductions needed for the funniest omfg-I-just-spat-out-my-drink blogger right now.
Of course I had to have her spill on everything she was wearing - in particular those flats with bows. How were flats like this not thought of before? Best skimmers I've seen in yonks. I was in these ones so clearly a flats day all round.
Her bow tie flats are Sandro they aren't listed :-(, the skirt worn as a dress is Rag & Bone, bag is Alexander Wang, vest is Club Monaco, shades are Ralph Lauren.
Similars to her look & alternatives to her flats (I feel a dickie bow shoe DIY coming on):
Alexander Wang bag (same as Leandra's). Also comes in black.
Rag & Bone skirt worn as a dress
Club Monaco field jacket or Gar-de cargo vest
Karen Walker sunnies
Sigerson Morrison flats or these more open ones

lost art

I was honored to play dress up at Jordan Bennet's Lost Art studio, the creator of the cult luxury leather brand who has dressed names including Lenny Kravitz (a big customer and my husband - in my head), Steve Tyler, Willy Nelson...the list is long.
Above is a teaser pic of the dress up. Have a peak at the vid to get a feel for the clothing.
For a few hours at his studio I died and went to rock heaven.
ps. Thank you The Pleat for the feature!

cloud like

Dress: DVF. Silver brogues: Underground Originals @ Trash and Vaudeville - Available online here. Leather shopper: Zara
Rest of what I wore during the Ray Ban post. The dress is so bloody light it's like a cloud. In pink.
Anyway I wanted to say thank you for the comments on the WDUGT posts like the one below. I've been running around in the city stopping people who before I would admire in silence and let them walk by.
This time I'm photographing them and having a good chin wag about what they are wearing (which is the best bit).
Loads more coming up. I shot someone today wearing a leather shopper from Paris that I reeeeally loved.

Where did u get that - saddle bag on 5th avenue

Photography: Karen Blanchard
I semi sprinted over to this girl last week to ask where did she get her stunning bag. She told me it's from Morocco (how did I know that was coming) but said that she has seen them "all over in New York now." If anyone knows where exactly please do tell.
I loved how she wore it messenger style over tightly rolled dark jeans, a shrunken striped shirt and simple Vans. Her indigo jeans and shirt are from Hollister where she works.
Topshop shirt
James Perse tank (cut low enough at the front to not show)
J Brand skinnies in ink
Vans classics (I like these checkerboards)
Bag wise go crazy on this eBay bag link. Or try similar vintage styles here, here or here.

my week 6.18.11

Street coffee. Practicing street style photography. Walking Sir Oliver. Jacksons Hole root beer/apple pie a la mode. Fun shoot with Lostart (pics to come). Skate boarders close to my home. Watching the Bill Cunningham documentary (anyone else seen it?). Finding Hedi Slimane.

2 in 1

Linen mix cardigan: Uniqlo. Skort/Shorts: Necessary Clothing on Broadway. Australian hat: Vintage. Sandals: Report Signature (more comfortable than I initially thought). Fringe bag: Gypsy Nation Vintage. Shades: Ray Ban. Starfish ring: Random NY shop (similar star ring here). Double ring with chain on my right hand: MHT
Ok so I ventured into the joining of two clothes into one territory. In this case - the skort (skirt and shorts combined). Never thought I would but anything crochet or lace esq acts like magnets to me.
To keep warm the evening that I was going out here, I layered the skort (what a bizarre word to write and even worse to verbalize) with an oversized light linen mix cardi (worn back to front). Before we got in the car I was checking out deleting some of these pictures and Michael took that pic of me with the camera. We use a Nikon D90 - in this case it's with a 24-70 lens - and as heavy as a mother .....
ps. I'll slow down a bit on posting this hat/lennon shades combo.
pps. Speaking of cameras, I've been getting into street style photography and will start posting what I've shot starting from next week! Don't be alarmed if I approach and ask if I can take your pic :-)
