keep them neutral?

***
Over the knee grey suede lovelies - found recently while thrifting in Williamsburg.
***
Question: Keep them grey or dye them black?
***
ps. I found out today that I am in the FINAL for the ASOS styling contest! OMG OMG OMGGG!!!!! Thank you voters for keeping me in it.
***
Only problem is my worst fear is realized: I go head to head with the biggest blogger in Norway. The one with the gigantic fan base. How the heck do we compete with that? (notice I said we like your literally in this with me). I'll keep you updated when the David and Goliath battle starts later in Feb.... God only knows how I get more votes then. Arrrghhhh...!

winterized

Fur jacket: Vintage. Velvet/silk jacket: Seen here. Found a similar one online here. Harem jeans: H&M. Beanie & gloves: Street vendor. Boots: Jeffrey Campbell Fringe bag: Gypsy Nation
***
There is absolutely no way that I'm waiting till Spring to wear this velvet jacket. Come to think of it, I actually like the look of it with a skinny jumper underneath and boots. God - I could wear this every bloody day!
***
Michael calls the boots geisha because of the solid wood cut out wedge. I sort of see the association. Either way it's a flash of wood when wearing darks - a bit like these Chloe Sevigs but I can walk longer in the Jeffreys.
ps. The 2 ASOS finalists who go head to head to try and win the competition are announced tomorrow...Thank you EVERYONE who voted for me. If I am chosen though, I fear being up against the biggest blogger in Norway who since day 1, gets (seemingly) millions of votes on every round and therefore wins ....God help me.

one eye on spring

Flora by Gee Wa Wa
***
Love the colour of these. Add skinnies... or a floaty tea dress... or a floor sweeping sheer maxi...or bells...or worn in shorts or an oversized chunky knit and thigh highs. Sheer ankle socks optional.
***
So right with a head to toe neutral look.

white out

Unif Shearling jacket/coat: (last worn here). Get it HERE. Velvet dress: Shareen vintage. Boots: Jeffrey Campbell via Solestruck.  Found these similar ones too.  Hat: Makins. Pendant: LF
***
Here we go again. New York got another huge snow dump.
***
Have to say though, every time I wake up to seeing this massive white blanket, I LOVE it and have to go out into it with Oliver (he was off the leash rolling in the snow behind Michael hence not being in the shots).
***
I layered the vintage velvet dress over a black top and wore warm tights and over the knee lace ups (wore the dress here with bare shoulders last time round). Who wants to bet we get snowed on again?

Pic 1:
So I really wanted this cheetah print jacket I found at an outdoor flea market the other day. Yea yea yea, I know I already have this and this but I would've sold one of them for it. Guess how much the seller wanted for it? $2500. Sod THAT for a laugh....
***
Rest of the shots:
***
Didn't see anything else that caught my eye but we took these Abbey Road/Beatle pics before we left. Didn't fancy wearing a coat so I bundled up in layers so I could go with a jacket.
***
ps. Guess who's been invited to speak at the IFB annual conference during NY fashion week?Hope some of you can attend and say hello : -)))

wear it: long dresses in winter - reader request

All Saints maxi dress
***
1. Topshop polo neck jumper. Layer a sleeveless maxi dress over a skinny jumper. Tip: Make sure the armholes are high and the neck is tall for a clean look. Alternatively wear an oversized jumper on top and turn the dress into a maxi skirt. The colour of this one would work perfectly with charcoal.
***
2. Warehouse cardigan. Layer a chunky knit cardi on top. I picked a similar hue to keep the look cohesive. A wide sleeve balances out the long skinny black jumper sleeves (or go with a long sleeved cardi to double up the arm warmth).
***
3. Elisanero ankle boots. Add boots with just enough lift to take the dress off the ground. Wear flat boots instead if the dress stops around your ankles.
***
4. Devoe beanie. A staple for both sexes. I live in them right now (when it's not a fedora)
***
5. Oak fingerless gloves. Keeps you warm while rummaging in your bag all day.
***
6. Rebecca Minkoff drawstring bag. The dress is long and lean so go with a long strap to continue that relaxed feel. A wine, emerald or deep purple bag would also work here and is a change from the usual black. Finish with wool tights and/or a neck scarf.
***
If anyone has any 'how to wear' questions, let me know in the comments or on Facebook where I found this one. I'm no 'fashion industry expert' but I'll definitely take a stab at it.

knitted

Jumper/Cardigan: courtesy of Club Monaco for Men. Leather leggings: Nicole Miller (remember them with these red heels?). Boots: Aldo. Hat: Makin. Bag: Alexander Wang
***
I like that these hiker boots are black on black (last seen here). No fussy gold or silver hardware. Just keeps them simple.
***
The hand made chunky knit jumper is from Club Monaco mens section - (surprise surprise). I went to the launch of their Spring Campaign last week. It features photo booth style pics of 19 creative influencers including Lauren Hutton and Lou Doillon. The campaign is about personal style and individuality - a philosophy I want us all to own.

the jacket

Faux leather jacket: Forever 21 (score post here). Leo tunic: H&M Men. Scarf: Love Quotes. Gloves: Street vendor.
***
Sometimes all you want to wear is a black leather jacket. Just pile on warm layers underneath.
***
Anyone guess what I wore for the lower half?

More pics to follow.

shop love - shareen vintage

This shop is located on the 2nd floor and marked only by a frothy crimson dress hanging outside
After being buzzed into the building, you turn the corner at the top of the stairs, glimpsing at the door entrance into the boutique. That's a sick military coat greeting you. I ALMOST bought it
The modest reception room. It's surrounded by vintage pieces on the walls
One wall in the reception area. Vintage dresses and scarves on display. Love the baby pink vintage dress
Room 1: A large space filled with vintage dresses grouped by sleeve length, from short, mid to long
How cool would this Pucci esq piece look with black opaque tights and a top knot?
Vintage wedding dresses draped on the sofa by a customer
Hallway leading into Room 2
Room 2: A cavernous space full of vintage furs and incredible maxi dresses
Another sofa with coats and dresses left by customers for trying on

So I finally checked out this gem find after scoring this brilliant cape from them weeks ago at a Lucky mag event. Let me tell you - I'm going back.
The shop is located on the second floor of what looks like an old apartment building. The only shop signage from the street is a crimson dress hanging from their balcony. If you've ever wanted to feel like you discovered a secret shopping haven then this is it.
***
The space is largely split into two large 'living rooms.' The first housing mostly day and evening dresses, the second (larger) room has racks of gorge fur coats and jackets, leather trousers and a wall of floaty vintage maxi dresses that I MUST return to for try ons.
***
Stock is updated every week and best bit? It's NOT expensive. Read: no sticker shock. Another reason why I'm returning. Go on - guess what I got for this first visit?
