Last Thursday I was invited to a private tour and intimate lunch at the Harry Winston flagship Fifth Avenue salon. The invite was to celebrate Harry Winston’s new behind the scenes bridal video and design my own Harry Winston engagement ring. I am off the market for one, but I saw this as an opportunity to harmlessly play with different styles.
To have a working class British girl like myself, raised by her Mum, exposed to this type of luxury did make me pinch myself. I remember walking past this Harry Winston store years ago as a tourist thinking: 'God I'd love to walk through those doors one day.' So you can imagine why this felt like a surreal version of Alice in Wonderland when I finally did.
I tried on diamonds in various sizes and cuts - pear, round, square & emerald. Let's pause for a moment to let that sentence sink in....
Everyone selected their favourite diamond (I chose square emerald cut) and each design was drawn and signed by the Harry Winston designers for our keeping. The afternoon ended with a lunch held in the private office of the late Harry Winston himself.
I never knew how a diamond goes from start to finish until now, but this video gives us a rare glimpse.
The above video is being shown to the public for the very first time.
Most of all, this is the first time that I finally got to walk through those famous Fifth Avenue doors.

what a fantastic opportunity.
