in the changing room - holiday tripping

A change from the normal denim jacket (and to find one with sleeves long enough for my arms is saying something).
Crochet dress, long marbled dress & denim jacket: Forever 21. Necklace: Vintage
End of next month (well, next month is technically tomorrow from the time of writing this post), I travel to New Orleans jazz fest - my annual pilgrimage with friends.
Usually I slum around in either airy floor length dresses (shocker) or short dresses with bikini/bandeau underneath and an old hat with shades.
Above are two recent pieces that will definitely get rolled up in the suitcase.
The denim jacket is to wear from tomorrow when NY heats up.
Finally. I can leave the leather jacket at home.

by default

Jacket: Zara. Dress: Thrift. Hat: Trash & Vaudeville. Shades: Ray Ban. Boots: All Saints. Bag: Balenciaga. Cardi: Forever21. Lipstick: Show Orchid by MAC
This was me last week. If you bumped into me in the streets there's a 50/50 chance I'm wearing some variation of the above.
It's my easy dress, the go to, it's the WTF I'll wear it again - it's comfortable.
It's shitty out in NY so I'm not doing any rain shots till it clears up and I get to try this Morrocan Hair Oil that I bought. Friends/hair stylists/reviews whisper that it's the best thing ever to stop frizz.
It better be the dog's bollocks...

4 reasons why i picked that dress colour

I went with the red dress posted below because I hardly ever wear red!
Top left: H&M strapless - original blog post here
Top right: FCUK beaded - original post here
Bottom left: Mummy dress - original post here
Bottom right: H&M crochet dress - post here (God that was a great weekend).
ps. I still keep looking at the cream one below most of you voted for, but I think I need the variety?

in the changing room - which one?

Dress: H&M Garden Collection. Boots: Vintage Fryes
Bought both but still not sure which to return. (If you follow me on twitter here you already know about these pictures from yesterday - plus other updates I do on there).
I like the soft cream/ivory one (wearing my old caramel boots made it even more appealing), but the red... (Sod the fact that it's the colour associated with H&M's Garden Collection?).
Help! Which colour?
ps. the red one is a true lipstick red. No orange.
(Daria, as promised you'll get to keep the one that I don't).

finishing what i started

Clutch: Courtesy of Coach. Skull Dress: Yesstyle.com Boots: Jeffrey Campbell. Blazer: Urban Outfitters Fedora: Trash & Vaudeville. Scarf: Love Quotes
After posting the Coach project last week, I thought I'd share a few of the other pics taken that day.
If your a foodie too and know the lower east side, you'll recognize this white tiled restaurant (which serves THE best sticky toffee pudding evahhh). After the pics, we went inside to get some. The whole dessert thing for me started from growing up on sponge cake and custard.
Anyone else have a sweet tooth? I feel like I've asked this question before.

all change

Robe: Thrift. Jumper: H&M. Leggings: American Apparel. Boots: All Saints. Wedges: Bebe. Bag: LF. Shades: Yoko Ono re-release by Porsche. Necklace: Foley & Corinna
So last weekend I left the house in the usual All Saints but the warm day meant hoofing it back to switch to sandals, so I went the opposite (vertically) and wore the big wedges. (For those who've asked, they are comfy. Try getting them at the store since black online are now sold out).
When I found this cheap long dressing gown robe thing I knew I HAD TO HAVE IT to wear as a long layer (I snipped off the waist ties). Underneath I wore the fishnet jumper and leggings and tied my crochet shawl scarf on the waist (which I ended up taking off anyway).

the current porn rotation

Left to right: Bebe platform wedges. Jeffrey Campbell Clinics. Chloe Doc Martens. Jeffrey Campbell clog sandals. Balenciaga platform sandals (space age Birkenstocks). Balenciaga platform wedge loafers. ACNE wedges.
Far left: Chloe riding boots. The platform Bebe wedges are the current wedge faves. With or without socks.
Left to right: Sam Edelman. DIY studded Chuck Taylors. All Saints fringe ankle boots. Bebe platform peep toe ankle boots. Jeffrey Campbell leopard print wood sandals. Jeffrey Campbell pony hair buckle ankle boots. Vintage Fryes
This is what I reach for right now. Last time I showed the rotation was in September here (some of those have gone).
As it gets warmer, I'm sure I'll post a porn update.
How do you lot organize your shoes?

checking out hudson denim

Heading into the Hudson jeans studio.
The Hudson studio. Preview of the Spring/Summer 2010. Rack upon rack of denim.
Looking through the jeans. Plus some of the shoes I brought for the shoot.
Wearing the Hudson charcoal jeggings. Styled with heels/sequin blazer.
Hudson baby boot cuts. Worn with DIY slashed T and snake skin Louboutins.
Trying on the Hudson lace up jeans in charcoal with a reversed crop top (wore it back to front) with my top hat and DIY studded combat boots.
Hudson model in zip back white skinnies. LOVED the Hudson sheer tanks. The double arm holes can be looped through the arms and worn on the shoulder converting the tank to cropped (versus long).
Hudson model in the baby boot cuts with the double arm hole sheer tank.
High waisted denim shorts with lace up back details.
Worn to the studio: Jumper: Mens H&M. Boots: Jeffrey Campbell. Jeans:Uniqlo. Bag: Balenciaga. Jacket: Strawberry. Fedora: Trash and Vaudeville
Hudson jeans recently invited me to preview their Summer 2010 collection and personally style any favourites.
I tried on a few and took pics in their baby boot cuts - a cropped casual style, their charcoal jeggings (felt like a second skin) and also their charcoal low rise lace ups. The latter are currently advertised by Georgia Jagger in the March issue of US Vogue.
Thank you Hudson for the preview and styling op!

coach, new york and me

UPDATE FROM LAST NIGHT!
***
Four bloggers were chosen for a project called My NY.
Go here for the video of us which is featured on the Coach home page (need sound). It's the photo/video shoot I mentioned here a couple of weeks ago. More footage to come soon!
Thank you Coach. The clutch featured above is here.
Also a special thanks to Jillian Halouska (Hair & make up), Karen Robinovitz and Daha Vintage (where I was shown shopping. It's one of my fave vintage shops on the Lower East side).

karen help me pick out some stuff...

Fringe leather jacket: All Saints. Grey dress: Elizabeth & James. Leggings: American Apparel. Clog sandals: Courtesy of Jeffrey Campbell 'Splendid' (thank you!). Bag: Thrift DIY studded. Scarf: Random east village shop. Fedora: Trash & Vaudeville. Lipstick (*gasp* she's mentioning it): MAC 'Show Orchid'
The boyfriend needed some new jeans and shirts so we shopped for a couple of hours the other day. He shops ridiculously efficient. I mean only buying what he planned to and NOTHING else. I've never done that before I think. Ever.
It's a guy thing right? (Generally speaking of course).
As for the clog sandals, well my fascination with wood heel platforms continues.

london street style during fashion week

Found this video while up in the wee early hours. Apart from loving everyone's outfits, the underlying song message was even sweeter.
Wear what you like and answer to YOURSELF.
Thanks Topshop for the message.

wear it differently

Leather jacket: Zara. Grey dress: Forever21. Leopard tunic: H&M. Belt: (can't remember). Bag: Coach. Fringe ankle boots: Minnetonka. Shades: Ray Ban. Nails: Urban Outfitters in 'White'
OMG is that sun? blue sky and it's warm? God we've waited so effing long for this.
Nothing here you haven't seen before, just worn different ways. The leopard print tunic dress is layered over my long grey dress and belted. I'm no stranger to layering dresses together, like here before. The Minnetonkas are for long pavement walks (in the sun!).
The bag is courtesy of Coach (thank you!). Always had one eye open for an oversized ivory leather bag so this is perfect (and makes a change to what I always carry)
