blues and greys

|
Cardigan and hoodie: Men's clearance H&M. Leopard print leggings: Strawberry. Boots: Chloe. Men's Fedora: Thrift. Bag: Thrift (DIY studded). ps: For those that ask, you can order studs from the Suds n Spikes.com site. Wool scarf (not seen): Love Quotes
Luckily there was car access to get around earlier today since it's still cold (thank God for heated seats). The oversized grey cardigan is from the men's clearance section from H&M. It's huge and the sleeves go way past my hands. Perfect.
I layered up with thermals (from a ski shop). The boots are by Chloe. I had always wanted the short version, but when the tall ones popped up on ebay I took the plunge.
Even though I love brown leopard prints, I'm really liking the blue/grey versions ALOT. My scarf here is becoming a fixture on my neck (on top of a wool scarf). Layers, layers, layers...

forward thinking

IMG_3173
Yellow dress: Forever 21. Off the shoulder dress: Victoria Secret. Belt (vintage)
It feels like -15 degrees outside but my mind is ONLY on Spring. Took these cell pics of two cheap finds (sorry for the quality).
Saw this yellow Forever21 dress and was drawn to the print, colour and cut. It has deep front pockets and a tulip skirt shape. Perfect with ankle boots.
Thanks to Refinery29's post here recently on long maxi dresses (my winter uniform), I loved the off the shoulder one they showed from Victoria's Secret. It's now on sale here so I got one. (Can't believe it was over $100). I sized up and got the medium. The baggier - the better.

Harley

Harley Davidson high waist leather trousers, bag and coat: Thrift. DIY studded boots: Steve Madden. Fedora: Trash and Vaudeville
These are the partial leather trousers from the swag pile a few posts below. The jodhpur cut is a bit like wearing two trousers in one from the front. They're one of those things you'll either love or you'll hate so of course, I loved them.
Apart from the I-can't-stop-wearing All Saints, these are the most comfortable boots for pounding the pavement.

stoned

YSL. Halleh. Marissa Collection. Fossil
My large apple turquoise ring above, is one of my fave rings. I bought it 3 years ago in New Orleans and its been on the blog a few times now (case in point).
I'm looking around for another large stone ring alternative. Above are a few contenders. The top left by YSL is gorge. Reminds me of a bar of semi-clear soap. Available here.
Anyone got any recs? Links please...

purrrrrr

Jogging pants: American Apparel. Leopard print jumper: Thrift. Boots: All Saints. Make up: MAC eye pencils.
Here's the leo print cropped jumper I got from the earlier 'Swag' post. Not done it yet, but I kinda like the idea of layering it over a floor sweeping plain dress one day...
Best thing about jogging pants is that they work just as well indoor as they do outdoors. I really liked wearing them with heels here.
How's everyone surviving the winter thus far? It was a rain storm in New York today. I had a fight with the wind using my umbrella. The wind won.
ps. Thank you Corridor40 for the interview piece!

faking it

Tights x2: H&M (layered together). Jumper dress: Thrift. Jacket: Strawberry. Shoes: ACNE. Bag: Alexander Wang. Thin wool jumpers (not seen). Green stone ring: New Orleans. Snake ring: NY local shop. Shades: Ray Ban
I think I'm officially sequin addicted. The large knit on this jumper dress was the first attraction, but the all over sparkles confirmed it.
The faux leather 'shearling' motor jacket is one of those pieces I've always wanted, but I couldn't find one that I loved (translation: could afford), so this faux version for $35 is a bargain.
Hang on, this is a re-occuring pattern too. Purchasing faux leather furry collared jackets. Remember this??
Any of you own faux leather jackets too?
ps. Thank you Essence magazine for the online feature!

the clash

Jumper with oval hem: H&M. Zebra skinnies: Trash & Vaudeville. Boots: All Saints. Hat: H&M.
One thing I love is mixing up animal print. Some of you remember the last clash here.
Not sure about you lot, but I used to despise wearing jumpers in winter. Little things like adding a drop hem though, makes them 10 x better and a nod to Dries Van Noten.
ps. I am beyond honoured to be listed as one of Vogue UK's fave fashion blogs. My site automatically updates on their's each time I have a new post. Click here for their blog list.

swag

Transparent beaded top with tattered hem in seafoam
(so damn perfect with denim):
Long delicate crochet knit cardi. The perfect spring/summer throw:
Little black sequin dress. Took a quick shot in the changing room:
Cotton and lace blouse:
Pale peach drop waist 1940's-esque dress. Side tie and soft ruffled layers. (I wore this out the shop with my combat boots on. I loved it THAT MUCH):
Purrrrr - cropped leo print jumper. (Forgot to photograph it so took a quick phone shot):
IMG_2997
High waisted leather jodpur style pants. Trimmed with studs and back ankle zips. KILLER:
The pile of different fabrics (you can imagine the leopard in there):
American Apparel shades from their vintage collection. Oversized with slight cat eye corners. JUST what I had been looking for.
Men's bow tie too. LOVE the look of a man's tie or bow tie worn in an unexpected way:
Lipstick: MAC Chilli with MAC Lust is Lush gloss on top (channelling the S/S 2010 Prada orange lipstick)
Did some second hand shopping on Saturday and wanted to share the scores.
I headed to Brooklyn Williamsburg and met up with the lovely (and fellow Brit!!) Gemma from Fade to Black. Have a look at her scores here.
We made out like bandits.
ps. Guess what? We ran into Mischa Barton in a cafe during our post haul lunch.
