vintage rock

front crop leg up crop dress
Vintage dress: Foley & Corinna. Boots: Emma Cook. Bag: Rebecca Minkoff
I thought I'd show this recent vintage wool find before it gets banished to the basement when it gets alot warmer. It actually hits below the knee but looks much better worn short (I love any short dress with sleeves which aren't that easy to come by I've noticed).
No I didn't lose my head (yet!) and slash it to this length. It's folded under, but it will be hemmed to the thigh to keep it feeling rock chick enough.

thank you rachel roy : )

The video showing sneak peak of the Rachel Rachel Roy collection (you need sound).

Some of the clothes/jewellery. (I see that pocket front drapey yellow leopard dress over black skinnies & heeled ankle boots or as is with a skinny black belt and boots) withVictoriaWebb

Me with Veronica Webb. My RRR top was COMPLETLY backless and draped with chains (I should've turned around shouldn't I?) Wore it with RRR cuffed shorts and black heeled ankle boots. earring

Look at this earring. I want! (from RRR collection). Its like a spear secured with a pyramid stud on each end. Sorry for pic quality. I zoomed in. closeupcollage Styles at the party: Ruby red encrusted handbag (I want one!). Leather fingerless gloves. Man bag and two toned brogues (LOVE....)

Where do I start? After Lucky magazine saw my blog, I was selected to be part of the Look Book and promotional video for the newly launched Rachel Rachel Roy collection for Fall 09. You should have seen the look on my face when I got the email confirming I was one of the four girls. It was priceless.

The whole experience has been incredible - right up to the launch party that was this evening. Met with other fashion bloggers including nitrolicious. After meeting and talking with Rachel Roy herself, she really is stunning and even more beautiful on the inside. I'm sure I'll post other bits and pieces of the whole event in other posts but I would have self destructed to not get this posted for now. Thanks to EVERYONE who made the whole adventure a fashionista's dream realized.

i did it again

Trousers: Chloe by Stella McCartney. Cropped semi-transparent top: Topshop. Shoes: Otto Tootsi Plohound. Jacket: Zara. Bag: Balenciaga
Lightening struck twice. The Chloe horse pants by Stella McCartney that I agonized over finding in beige for years, popped up at consignment in navy.
I watched a guy (yes a guy) contemplate trying them on and the moment he replaced the hanger on the rack, I grabbed it. These are a size too big and swish around my ankles when walking. Bonus!

back from new orleans

Top: Red tunic: Forever 21. Boots: Vintage. Middle: Tank: Forever 21. Denim cut offs. Ring/Bracelet: New Orleans Vendor. Bar Collage: Blouse: East village boutique. Faux leather mini skirt with side zip: Silence & Noise.
So I'm back in New York after partying, eating and hanging out.
Here's a few of the hundreds of pics taken. I'll add more over the next couple of days. If you were following twitter, you'll know that I lost the chip reader so had to wait till I got back home to update my blog.
The above bar night shots were taken at Port O Call. They make sinfully loaded baked potatoes. After years of being served by their bartender, I swung around to his side of the bar to finally get a pic with him. (Note his deliberately blurred floral shirt). Anyway, see you tomorrow - got to still unpack...

when the saints, come marching in....

First day in New Orleans and it's gone from rainy drive to airport to 90 degrees and blue sky.  When it's this hot, I have to wear a floor sweeping cotton dress.   For some weird feeling that length makes me feel a few degrees cooler. I know.  Strange.
I love how the Quarter has music on every street you turn onto.

DIY reminder

Sequin blazer: Zara. Jeans: Levis. Bag: Vintage. Boots: Nine West. Tank: Forever21. Silver bandeau: American Apparel
I've been meaning to post these jeans when I got them but kept getting side tracked. Since actively looking for bleached skinnies, I settled on these by Levi's for now. A big fan of DIY on my clothes, I still some how can't be bothered with dyeing my own pair at home, but one weekend and with a pair of cheap jeans and bleach - I will. Until then, these will do. I slashed a hole in one knee but I'm sure that several posts from now, there will be a few more holes to trash them up further. That reminds me, I have to get a cheese grater for that (can you believe I don't have one?). Ok, I need to get packing for New Orleans....I leave tomorrow and can already see I won't be getting an early night.

it's all good

Okay. Two pieces of good news: 1). In two days time I'll be in the Big Easy of New Orleans for their annual Jazz Festival. I promise to document via photos and twitter while there. This will be my 5th trip?

2). I returned my Alexander Wang Brenda bag because I got EXTREMELY lucky in getting my hands on a used 1st edition instead. Used bags don't bother me so it's a score in my books. The cheap price was the clincher, but unexpected bonuses made it even better: The leather is softer and the hardware is chunkier and more industrial-like. The top compartment opens with easy access double zipper pulls. Plus it's slighty bigger. Bonus! This will be handy for getting through airports this week as well as stuffing my face with powder sugared beignets completely hands free.

There is a third piece of good news but I'll be posting about that very very soon with pictures and video ; )

a bit of sparkle

Shirt: Mens Forever 21. Sheer T: Express. Leggings: Topshop. Shoes: Emma Cook. Bag: Balenciaga
The mild obsession with a black sequinned basic continues.
I really REEEALLY like these leggings and wear them very casual. I work in a casual office, but wearing these might just push me into the: omg-she-didn't category.
Being black they are suprisingly versatile so any legging fans reading this, do give them a try. It's a bit of glam - just toughened up a bit?

feeling lucky

Unique 'Lucky' Blazer: Topshop. Top: Men's H&M. Shorts: A&F DIY cut offs. Boots: Fryes. Bag: Balenciaga
Got this jacket at Topshop on the opening day in New York. I had it in my shopping cart once online and didn't pull the trigger, but seeing it in real life and trying it on? Game over. Its a little bit of rock that's on something not as expected like a leather jacket. It's a size too big for me but it was the last one left and I like the unintentional oversized feel, big shoulder pads and all!
The all over bead/button/stud detailing is crazy. Love that horse shoe on the back.

reversed

Jumper (sweater): Vintage. Faux leather trousers: T&V. Shoes: Chloes. Bag: Balenciaga
I LOVED this vintage top the moment I swung it around on the hanger and saw the back. Also, the front (which I wear as the back), has big jewel-like stones sewn randomly on it too which I thought was cool.
I destroyed both shoulders a bit by stretching out the yarn to show more skin.
I much prefer stuff like this that's been messed up a bit.
